Gompa, Nimba County | Oct. 21, 2025 | The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency – LDEA has released an arrest of two individuals following a weekend anti-narcotics operation in Ganta, Nimba County, that led to the seizure of four compressed plates of marijuana valued at approximately US$400.
According to the LDEA Nimba Detachment, the operation took place on Saturday, October 19, 2025, at the main Ganta checkpoint. Officers, acting on routine inspection, intercepted a vehicle transporting the illegal substances.
The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Kindness Tokpah and Arlington Dawoyea, were immediately taken into custody after officers discovered the drugs concealed within the vehicle.
Both men are residents of the Gompa area and are believed to be connected to a wider local distribution network under LDEA investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that the two suspects will face charges ranging from illegal possession to trafficking of narcotic substances.
They are expected to make their initial court appearance at the Ganta Magisterial Court in the coming days.
The LDEA has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking across Nimba County, describing the latest seizure as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the illegal drug trade and curb youth substance abuse.
Meanwhile, the agency’s operations in the county have received a boost with the arrival of a new vehicle, recently assigned to the Nimba detachment to strengthen patrols and intelligence-gathering activities.
An LDEA spokesperson in Ganta commended the officers involved in the successful operation, emphasizing that the agency remains vigilant in safeguarding communities from the growing threat of illicit drugs.
“We will continue to pursue and dismantle networks involved in the sale and movement of harmful substances,” the spokesperson said. “Our goal is to ensure that Nimba County and Liberia at large are safe from the damaging effects of drug abuse and trafficking.”
The LDEA has in recent months stepped up enforcement efforts across several counties amid growing public concern over rising drug use, particularly among youth.
