The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Special Detachment assigned at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) has arrested a 39-year-old Liberian woman identified as Quita Kosso Dolo for trafficking a significant quantity of cocaine.
At approximately 6:30 AM on July 12, 2025, suspect Dolo, a resident of Congo Town, was apprehended shortly after arriving on Kenya Airways flight KQ887 from Nairobi, Kenya, transiting through Bangkok, Thailand.
During a routine search, despite having cleared Immigration and Customs, LDEA officers became suspicious and conducted a secondary search. The search led to the discovery of ten (10) compressed plates of a white powdery substance, concealed in her luggage. The substance was tested by LDEA laboratory technicians and confirmed to be cocaine, weighing 3.355 kilograms.
In her preliminary statement, suspect Dolo alleged that she was contacted by a long-time friend known only as Henry Iki, a Nigerian national residing in Nigeria. According to her, Iki instructed her to collect a suitcase from his associate in Thailand and transport it to Monrovia. She claimed she was unaware that the suitcase contained illegal drugs and was told it only contained clothing. She was reportedly directed to deliver the suitcase to a man in Monrovia identified as “Obi”.
In a related development, at approximately 1:30 AM, an individual believed to be Obi, who is reportedly the brother of Henry Iki, attempted to bribe LDEA officers at RIA to secure the release of both Dolo and the suitcase. He was immediately arrested and is now in custody, undergoing further investigation alongside Dolo.
The seized 3.355 kg of cocaine has an estimated street value of US$181,008.00 (approximately L$36,201,600).
The LDEA reiterates its zero-tolerance policy on illicit drugs and remains committed to enforcing Liberia’s new drug law, which makes drug-related crimes non-bailable offences. The agency warns all would-be traffickers that the full weight of the law will be applied.
The LDEA urges the public to assist in the fight against drug trafficking by reporting any suspicious activities via its hotline: 0777-133-333.
