GREENVILLE, Sinoe County – April 9, 2026 — In a dramatic anti-drug operation that has shocked local residents, the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested one of its own senior officers after he was allegedly caught transporting a large consignment of illegal drugs into Sinoe County.

The suspect, Commander Action Agent Sam Max Dixon, 37, who was serving as LDEA Commander at Government Camp, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at approximately 2:30 AM. He was apprehended together with Hanson Zulu Jr., 35, a resident of Government Camp believed to be linked to the suspected drug distribution network.

According to the LDEA Sinoe County Detachment, Commander Dixon had been under surveillance for several days following credible intelligence suggesting that he had been transporting illegal narcotics from Monrovia to Sinoe County for distribution to local dealers.

Authorities disclosed that about a week before the arrest, Dixon requested permission to travel to Monrovia, claiming that his mother was ill. The request was approved; however, due to the ongoing intelligence report, LDEA leadership ordered that he be closely monitored during the trip.

Upon his return to Sinoe County on a motorcycle, officers allowed Dixon to enter the Barracks Quarters (BQ) before moving in and placing him under arrest.

A search conducted during the operation uncovered a substantial quantity of illegal drugs along with a single-barrel shotgun.

The confiscated items include:

– 792.6 grams of Kush, valued at approximately US$15,852 (LD$3,011,880)

– 673.5 grams of Cocaine, valued at approximately US$30,307.5 (LD$5,758,425)

– 46 boxes of Tramadol (460 strips), valued at approximately US$12,105.2 (LD$2,300,000)

The total estimated street value of the seized drugs stands at US$58,264.7, equivalent to LD$11,070,293.

Investigators further revealed that the narcotics were allegedly intended for distribution to several dealers operating within the Gold Camp area, including co-suspect Hanson Zulu Jr., who was later arrested in connection with the operation.

Both suspects are currently undergoing investigation by the LDEA and are expected to be formally charged and forwarded to court for prosecution.

The LDEA says the arrest demonstrates its unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking across Liberia, stressing that no individual—regardless of rank or position—is above the law.

The incident has sparked renewed public concern about drug trafficking activities in southeastern Liberia, particularly in Sinoe County, where authorities say enforcement efforts are being intensified
