The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Grand Gedeh detachment on Monday June 30, 2025, destroyed a huge quantity of drugs.
The addictive substances which were confiscated during the period under review included, Marijuana, Kush, Heroin, Cocaine and precursor among others.
Speaking during the presentation to the public, the LDEA County Commander Papa Gompu said that the disposal exercise underscores the agency’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse within the county.
This year’s international drug day celebration is held under the theme:The Evidence Is Clear, Invest In Prevention.
June 26 of every year is observed worldwide as international drug day.
The county Commander Papa Gompu reaffirmed the agency unwavering commitment to maintaining laws and order by tackling the consistent issues of drug trafficking and substance abuse in the county under his regime as arrowhead.
He further stressed that the operations are part of strategy aimed at curbing the growing drug trade that poses significant risks to the lives of young people.
The LDEA Commander explained the need for continued collaboration between the ministry of Justice and local communities to effectively combat drug-related crimes. He called on community dwellers to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities.
Commander Papa Gompu used the medium to outline challenges faced by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency particularly the issue of mobility and other logistical needs for the smooth operations of the Agency.
For remarks, the special Assistant in the office of the Superintendent, Mr. Javin sukor, thanked the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency Grand Gedeh Detachment and called for continuous efforts while assuring the LDEA of getting more support from the local authority.
Moreover, District #2 Representative, Hon. Madam Marie Johnson, applauded the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency Grand Gedeh Detachment and asked that they include school heads in the fight against drugs and pleaded with them to continue their hard work in securing the future generation from substance abuse.
Attendees at the occasion appreciated the entire LDEA team for their great job in the county.
