Officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) have seized a substantial quantity of suspected illicit drugs during a targeted operation in the West Point community of Monrovia.
The operation was conducted by LDEA personnel assigned to Satellite Base One, acting on a search warrant issued by the West Point Magisterial Court.
The LDEA authorities described the raid as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in densely populated urban areas.
Tensions escalated during the operation when a group of residents gathered at the scene and reportedly attempted to interfere with law enforcement officers by demanding the release of the suspect.
The situation briefly became volatile, raising concerns about public safety.
Despite the confrontation, LDEA officers maintained control of the scene and successfully secured the suspect without further incident.
Officials have yet to disclose the exact type, quantity, or estimated street value of the drugs confiscated.
However, authorities confirmed that a full investigation is underway, and additional arrests have not been ruled out.
The LDEA has reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations against illegal drug activities across the country and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against narcotics.
