ITI, River Cess County – The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested a 43-year-old man in possession of a significant quantity of narcotics in the ITI community, River Cess County.
According to LDEA Commander George P. Kemokai, the suspect, identified as Ayouba Sheriff, was apprehended on Friday, August 22, 2025, with nine kilograms of marijuana. Authorities estimate the street value of the seized substance at US$900 (equivalent to LRD180,000).
Sheriff, a Liberian mechanic by trade and native of Lofa County, is reported to be of Mandingo ethnicity. He is currently detained at the Yarpah Town Police Station pending further investigation.
Commander Kemokai emphasized that the arrest is part of the LDEA’s intensified efforts to combat the trafficking and abuse of narcotic substances in River Cess and other parts of Liberia.
“This operation demonstrates our commitment to curbing the growing drug menace in the country,” Kemokai noted.
The LDEA has vowed to continue its crackdown on drug-related activities, urging community members to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against illegal drugs.
