PAYNESVILLE CITY – December 12, 2025
The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) on Friday launched a dawn raid on the Paynesville residence of Liberian rap star Bucky Raw, following allegations linking the artist to the sale of narcotics. The operation has since ignited widespread public debate, with many calling for transparency from both the agency and the musician.
According to LDEA officers assigned to the operation, the team reportedly encountered resistance before gaining entry into the premises. Once inside, agents said they recovered quantities of marijuana and American cannabis (“loud”). The agency has not yet disclosed whether the findings will lead to formal charges.
Bucky Raw, speaking to Verity News reporter shortly after being taken into custody, admitted ownership of the substances but insisted they were intended strictly for personal use, not for distribution. The rapper further claimed that officers removed L$60,000 from a small cross bag during the raid an accusation the LDEA has not publicly addressed.
The dramatic arrest scene, which showed the entertainer seated in the back of an LDEA pickup and escorted by armed officers, quickly went viral on social media, sparking discussions about drug enforcement, artists’ lifestyles, and potential misconduct by state security agencies.
Residents in the community described the early-morning presence of armed operatives as “alarming,” while others called for a fair and impartial investigation to determine whether the allegations against the musician and the counter-allegations against the officers have merit.
As of press time, Bucky Raw remains under LDEA custody, and authorities say the matter is still under active investigation.
