Monrovia, Liberia — The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has reported the confiscation of significant quantities of illegal drugs in two separate operations conducted in Caldwell and Bo-Waterside.
In Caldwell, LDEA officers intercepted a large consignment of marijuana mixed with peanuts from a 26-year-old woman identified as Dorothy Magee. The seizure occurred during a routine patrol by agents assigned to the LDEA Satellite Station in the area. Authorities said the mixed substances, which included a local ingredient known as eggnut, carry an estimated street value of over L$127,000.
This is the second major drug seizure in the Caldwell community in less than two weeks. Magee is currently being investigated and is expected to be forwarded to court in line with Liberian law.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation at Bo-Waterside, LDEA officers arrested 23-year-old Justine Roberts after discovering 1,374 strips of Tramadol hidden inside a blue Nissan Amaria bearing Liberian license plate A12542. The value of the seized pharmaceutical drugs is estimated at over L$2 million.
Roberts is also undergoing investigation and will be formally charged and sent to court for prosecution.
The LDEA has reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse in Liberia and is calling on citizens to continue providing credible information to aid ongoing enforcement efforts.
