Since her inception as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Liberia has, for the last nine (9) months, witnessed a significant number of signings establishing new diplomatic ties.
In addition to this, the Government of Liberia has begun establishing diplomatic relations with five new countries.
Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, held discussions and signed diplomatic agreements on behalf of Liberia.
Out of the five new relationships, three were signed with Bahrain, Uzbekistan, and Croatia.
Minister Nyanti urged her counterparts to continue partnering for peace and security in the global community.
The Liberian Foreign Minister and her counterparts exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation as well as closer coordination based on mutual respect and appreciation for the international rules-based order.
All countries declared their support for Liberia’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for 2026-2027.
The support from these countries will boost Liberia’s quest for this non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for 2026-2027.
The new diplomatic ties will create a formal establishment or renewal of official relations between the two countries.
This agreement with the three countries entails mutual recognition, the exchange of ambassadors, and collaboration on political, economic, cultural, or security matters.
It signals the beginning of cooperative dialogue, fostering international partnerships and facilitating trade, foreign aid, and conflict resolution.
This is poised to deliver strategic significance, potential benefits, and geopolitical implications, as well as how these ties may influence regional or global diplomacy. According to a release issued by the Ministry, agreements with El Salvador and Bolivia will be signed at a later date.
