The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has issued a public announcement inviting qualified Liberians to apply for academic and professional training opportunities in the maritime sector, including fully funded international scholarships.

According to the Authority, application forms will be available beginning April 10, 2026, at its headquarters in Oldest Congo Town, opposite the Ministerial Complex.

Completed applications, along with all required supporting documents, must be submitted on April 13, 2026, at LiMA’s Training Department.

In a statement issued on Tuesday on the Ministry of youths and sports official Facebook page, states that applicants will then sit an aptitude test scheduled for April 18, 2026, also at the Authority’s headquarters.

The program offers a range of specialized disciplines designed to strengthen Liberia’s maritime workforce and enhance global competitiveness in the sector.

At the postgraduate level, applicants may pursue Master of Science degrees in International Shipping and Logistics, Maritime Safety, Security and Risk Management, Renewable Energy, and Maritime Law.

Undergraduate opportunities include studies in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, and Marine Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

In addition, LiMA announced two scholarship opportunities sponsored by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, aimed at supporting outstanding Liberian students.

The scholarships will follow the same application timeline and procedures as the general program.

In its official statement, the Authority emphasized its commitment to human capacity development and encouraged eligible citizens to take advantage of the opportunity.

“The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) informs all Liberians interested in pursuing studies in the maritime sector that application forms will be available for pickup on April 10, 2026, at the Authority’s Headquarters… Applicants are required to submit completed application forms along with all necessary supporting documents on April 13, 2026… An Aptitude Test will subsequently be administered on April 18, 2026.”

The Authority further urged applicants to seek additional information directly from its headquarters.

Liberia maintains one of the world’s largest ship registries, making the development of skilled maritime professionals a national priority. Officials say initiatives like these are critical to sustaining the country’s leadership in global shipping and maritime services.
