Liberia, Rwanda Sign Landmark Visa Waiver, Cooperation Agreement

Monrovia, Liberia – Liberia and Rwanda on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, signed key bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties, including a Reciprocal Visa Waiver Agreement that will allow citizens of both nations to travel freely between the two countries without visa requirements.

The agreements were signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia, with both nations represented by their respective Foreign Affairs Ministers ~ Sara Beysolow Nyanti of Liberia and Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe of Rwanda.

The visa waiver is expected to boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries, supporting broader regional integration efforts across the African continent.

This agreement represents a new opportunity for our two nations and our peoples,” said Minister Nyanti during the signing ceremony. “It is a step toward deepening cooperation and promoting shared growth.”

In his remarks, Minister Nduhungirehe expressed gratitude for Liberia’s hospitality and highlighted the significance of the agreement.

This is my first time in Liberia, and I thank the government and people for the warmest welcome,” he said. “This agreement is a strong step forward in promoting the vision of one Africa, one people.”

The deal underscores growing momentum across Africa for enhanced regional mobility and cooperation under frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
