Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti is leading the country’s official delegation to the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.
The high-level forum, running from January 19 to 23 under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue,” brings together global leaders at a time of mounting geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, climate risks, and rapid technological change.
Minister Nyanti is accompanied by Minister of Finance and Development Planning Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan and National Investment Commission (NIC) Chairman Jeff Blibo, signaling a coordinated, whole-of-government effort to elevate Liberia’s standing within the global economic community.
Liberia’s presence at Davos is being widely viewed as a historic step that reflects the country’s growing international credibility, sustained reform efforts, and renewed engagement as a reliable partner for investment and development.
According to officials, the delegation will use the global platform to advance Liberia’s economic diplomacy agenda, strengthen strategic partnerships, and promote the country as an emerging destination for responsible and sustainable investment, with a strong focus on job creation and inclusive growth.
On the sidelines of the Forum, the Liberian delegation is scheduled to hold engagements with global policymakers, development finance institutions, multinational corporations, and private investors.
These discussions will highlight Liberia’s macroeconomic outlook, ongoing fiscal and governance reforms, and investment opportunities across priority sectors of the economy.
A key highlight of Liberia’s participation will be a senior-level roundtable titled “The Future of Liberia: Global Partnerships and Economic Diplomacy,” organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Foreign Policy magazine. The event is set for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Financial Times House (Hotel Parsenn) in Davos.
Foreign Minister Nyanti will deliver opening remarks at the roundtable, which is expected to convene 15 to 20 high-level participants, including global investors, multinational executives, and representatives of major development finance institutions.
Finance Minister Ngafuan is slated to give a keynote address focusing on Liberia’s transition toward investment readiness, priority reform initiatives, and sector-specific opportunities.
Discussions will also spotlight Liberia’s rising international profile, including its historic election as an incoming non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, and the broader implications for regional stability and global cooperation. These themes will be further explored during a panel discussion led by Minister Nyanti, Minister Ngafuan, and NIC Chairman Blibo.
The 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum is expected to attract nearly 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries, including about 400 political leaders—among them nearly 65 heads of state and government—as well as approximately 850 chief executives and chairpersons of leading global companies.
Liberia’s participation at WEF Davos underscores the government’s commitment to proactive global engagement, building investor confidence, and pursuing a unified national strategy for economic diplomacy aimed at attracting partnerships, creating jobs, and driving inclusive and sustainable long-term development.
