The Liberian Student Union in China (LSUIC) has unveiled its landmark First Quarter Report for the 2025–2026 fiscal years, highlighting sweeping reforms and a bold vision to strengthen student governance, welfare, and digital engagement.
Guided by National President Olano Teah Bloh and the mantra “Leadership to the People,” LSUIC has laid the groundwork for a more decentralized, accountable, and technology-driven Union.
A major highlight of the quarter is the appointment of over 85 student officials within just three months- including 28 City Presidents and 19 Provincial Coordinators, representing Liberian students in more than 25 cities across China.
“This is more than just a number; it is a testament to leadership that acts with urgency, purpose, and an unwavering belief in collective effort,” President Bloh stated in the report, underscoring the Union’s commitment to bring leadership closer to the people.
In a significant step toward modernization, LSUIC launched its official website, www.lsuic.org -providing a centralized platform for information and interaction.
The quarter also saw the introduction of:
Online membership registration forms
The LSUIC Chronicle, a digital publication to keep members informed
An innovative feature titled “Chat with the Constitution”, designed to encourage engagement with the Union’s governing document.
Governance and Financial Oversight Strengthened
To bolster transparency and accountability, LSUIC established six fully constituted committees- including Audit, Constitution Review, and Welfare-staffed by over 37 dedicated members.
The newly formed Audit Committee has been tasked with conducting comprehensive audits of the previous three leadership terms, a critical step for an organization that had lacked formal financial reviews for several years.
The Union also submitted a national budget projecting a surplus and launched a Live Dues Record Sheet to provide real-time visibility into membership contributions and financial management.
Enhanced Welfare Programs and Member Support
LSUIC expanded its welfare initiatives, notably:
Assisting approximately 40 students with T-Visa extensions and passport attestations in collaboration with the Liberian Embassy in Beijing
Offering airport pick-up and settlement support for new students
Revising the Soft Loan Policy to improve access and transparency for students in financial need
Peace, Reconciliation, and Rule of Law
The Union commenced its term by ensuring a peaceful transfer of power, followed by reconciliation meetings with past and current leaders. In a symbolic gesture, printed copies of the constitution were distributed to all newly appointed officials, emphasizing the Union’s commitment to lawful and accountable governance.
Looking Ahead: Second Quarter Priorities
LSUIC’s next steps include fully operationalizing its leadership structure, launching nationwide consultations for constitutional amendments, and rolling out capacity-building workshops across China.
