Liberty Party USA Youth Wing Chairman Resigns, Citing Departure from Founding Vision

By Ben T.C. Brooks

Philadelphia, USA – [August 15, 2025] – Ansu Dukuly, the Chairman of the Liberty Party (LP) Youth Wing, has announced his resignation, effective immediately. He cited the party’s drift from its foundational principles and a loss of independence as his primary reasons.

In a resignation letter addressed to LP National Chairperson Hon. Rugie Barry in Monrovia, Dukuly expressed regret over his decision but emphasized that it was rooted in principle.

Dukuly acknowledged the party’s commitment to the 4Rs-Reform, Reconciliation, Recovery, and Rebuild as his political home, paying homage to the late party founder, Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine. However, he noted that the party’s direction has increasingly strayed from its original mission.

He criticized the party for allowing a sense of entitlement to influence its decision-making and pointed to a recent political alignment with the Unity Party as a factor undermining LP’s independence.

The recent merge with the Unity Party has resulted in diminished autonomy and a decline in the principles that define us,” he stated. “As supporters of the Liberty Party’s original vision, we cannot in good faith remain in a chapter that no longer represents the values we cherish.”

In concluding his resignation, Dukuly expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership and members for the opportunity to serve, acknowledging the efforts of his colleagues towards a better Liberia.

Dukuly, who previously ran for a representative seat two times in Grand Gedeh County Electoral District 1, reaffirmed his right under Liberian law to choose his political affiliation freely.
