The Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) has signed a $121,000 contract with JES Engineering to develop the first floor of its new four-story headquarters on Roberts field Highway, located in the Tower Hill Community.
The agreement was finalized on October 15 at a ceremony attended by LNBA President Sylvester D. Rennie and JES General Manager Joseph S. Dennis, along with project manager Cllr. Bobby Livingstone and staff from both organizations.
Cllr. Rennie highlighted that the project is fully funded by membership dues, reflecting the association’s commitment to utilizing its own resources for advancement. He noted that JES Engineering was chosen through a competitive bidding process exclusive to Liberian-owned firms.
“We’re proud to partner with a 100% Liberian-owned Company for this vital project,” he stated.
The project is scheduled to be completed within eight months, allowing bar members to use the first floor shortly thereafter. Rennie expressed gratitude to former LNBA leaders Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe and Cllr. Moses Paegar for their contributions to this initiative.
Addressing previous delays due to funding and issues with a former contractor, GeoScope Limited, he confirmed that the contract with GeoScope was terminated due to default, with potential legal action being considered.
With a robust financial strategy now established, Rennie assured members that funds are in place to precede, and he is committed to completing the first floor before the end of his term. JES General Manager Dennis reaffirmed the commitment to meet the eight-month deadline.
