LNP Bong Detachment Forwards Two Suspected Armed Robbers to Court, Enforces Nighttime Restriction

GBARNGA, Bong County – The Liberia National Police (LNP) Bong County Detachment has arrested and charged two suspected armed robbers, forwarding them to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Gbarnga.

The suspects, identified as Austin Maxwell (40) and Armah Mator Urey (43), were charged with Theft of Property, Criminal Conspiracy, and Simple Assault, following their arrest in the GST Road Community. According to police, the operation was based on a tip-off and the suspects’ previous criminal records.

Bong County Police Commander ACP Fasu Sheriff, speaking at a brief press engagement, confirmed the arrest and emphasized the police’s commitment to tackling crime in the county. He stated that the detachment is stepping up its operations and has intensified robust patrols across Gbarnga and surrounding areas.

APC Sheriff also reported that another suspect, only identified as Forkai, a Sierra Leonean national went at large during the operations and is wanted by police.

In a related development, Commander Sheriff reaffirmed the police’s commitment to enforcing the recently imposed nighttime restrictions on commercial motorcyclists in Gbarnga. The restriction prohibits motorcycle operations between 11:30 PM and 5:00 AM.

He disclosed that more than 40 motorcycles were impounded by the operations team just last night, warning that violators of the restrictions will face strict penalties, including fines and possible ticketing.

We will not relent in our efforts to maintain law and order,” ACP Sheriff stated. “Motorcyclists are strongly advised to adhere to the restrictions or face the full weight of the law.”
