LNP Hosts High-Level FBI Delegation to Strengthen Law Enforcement

The Liberia National Police (LNP) on Thursday, January 22, 2026, welcomed a high-level delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States, led by Ms. Christen Schill, to the LNP Headquarters in Monrovia.

According to Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman, the visit underscores ongoing efforts to bolster law enforcement collaboration and enhance Liberia’s capacity to combat complex crimes.

IGP Coleman said the discussions focused on addressing transnational criminal networks, financial crimes, and the overall strengthening of operational and investigative capacities within the Liberia National Police.

The high-level meeting was attended by Deputy Inspector Generals of Police for Administration, Operations, and Crime Services were present, highlighting the high-level nature of the engagement.

Speaking during the meeting, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gregory O.W. Coleman emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing evolving security challenges.

“We recognize that crime knows no borders. By partnering with global law enforcement agencies like the FBI, we can better equip our officers, improve investigative standards, and ensure that criminal networks operating across countries are effectively disrupted,” he noted.

Ms. Christen Schill, leading the FBI delegation, expressed commitment to deepening collaboration with the Liberia National Police, particularly in areas of intelligence sharing, financial crime investigations, and joint capacity-building initiatives.

“Our visit is aimed at enhancing collaboration and ensuring that Liberia’s law enforcement agencies have access to the tools, training, and resources necessary to tackle modern criminal threats,” Ms. Schill said.

He, among other things indicated that discussions also touched on strategies to combat money laundering, cybercrime, and other sophisticated financial crimes that have increasingly affected Liberia and the West African sub-region. Both sides agreed on the necessity of continuous training and knowledge transfer to strengthen investigative outcomes.

The Deputy Inspector General for Operations emphasized the need for stronger coordination between various divisions of the LNP to effectively tackle organized crime and noted that the FBI partnership provides critical technical support.

“We are particularly keen on improving our intelligence-gathering capabilities and enhancing investigative procedures. The DIG for Operations said. Collaboration with the FBI will help our officers operate at international standards,” he indicated.

According to sources close to the meeting, the Deputy Inspector General for Crime Services highlighted the importance of investigative integrity and adherence to human rights standards, which will be reinforced through joint trainings and workshops with the FBI.

The FBI delegation also toured key departments within the LNP Headquarters, reviewing current systems and offering recommendations for operational improvements, including the use of modern investigative tools and financial tracking mechanisms.

IGP Coleman concluded the engagement by reiterating the LNP’s commitment to international cooperation and ensuring that Liberia remains a safe and secure environment for all citizens.

“This partnership is more than symbolic. IGP Coleman noted. It is a practical step toward strengthening our national security framework and ensuring that our officers are prepared to tackle both local and transnational criminal threats effectively.”

The visit marks another milestone in Liberia’s ongoing collaboration with international law enforcement agencies, reflecting a shared commitment to global security and capacity building within the country’s policing institutions.
