LNP, Indian Government Deepen Strategic Partnership as India Pledges Training Support in Cybersecurity and Forensics

By Rufus Divine Brooks Jr.

Liberia’s Inspector General of Police, Gregory O. W. Coleman, hosted a key introductory meeting on Thursday, August 28, 2025, with His Excellency Manoj Bihari Verma, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Liberia.

The meeting, held at a venue symbolic of growing bilateral ties, lasted over an hour and focused on expanding cooperative efforts between the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the Indian government.

Ambassador Verma reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting the LNP through targeted capacity-building initiatives. He emphasized that India is prepared to provide specialized training programs for Liberian police officers in several high-priority areas.

Among the key training fields discussed were:

Cybersecurity: Building LNP’s ability to combat cybercrime, protect digital infrastructure, and handle digital investigations.

Forensic Science: Improving technical skills in crime scene management, evidence handling, and scientific analysis to support effective prosecutions.

Media Relations: Training officers in strategic communication to enhance transparency and public trust.

Criminal Investigations: Strengthening investigative techniques, intelligence gathering, and case management.

Technical Expertise: Offering broader training in essential modern policing skills and technologies.

Inspector General Coleman expressed deep appreciation to Ambassador Verma and, by extension, the Government and people of India for their consistent support to Liberia.

He noted that these initiatives are vital for improving the professionalism and effectiveness of the LNP, while enhancing the overall quality of policing services offered to the Liberian public.

“This partnership marks a critical step forward in our commitment to reform and modernization,” Coleman said. “India has been a longstanding and dependable ally in our quest to build a competent, efficient, and responsive police force.”

The strategic nature of the meeting was highlighted by the participation of key members of the LNP leadership, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Sam K. Collins, who serves as Chief of International Relations. His presence underscored the LNP’s proactive approach to strengthening global partnerships.

The meeting signals a renewed era of collaboration between the LNP and the Government of India—one that promises to enhance Liberia’s security architecture and further professionalize its law enforcement apparatus.
