Monrovia, Liberia – In an effort to enhance public safety and strengthen trust between citizens and law enforcement, the Liberia National Police (LNP), in partnership with the Joint Security Forces, has launched a citywide patrol initiative across Monrovia.
LNP in a release said the initiative, which includes personnel from the Liberia Immigration Service, Liberia National Fire Service, and the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency, is part of a broader strategy aimed at increasing police visibility, deterring criminal activity, and fostering stronger community engagement.
Deputy Inspector General for Operations of the LNP, Nelson J. Freeman, highlighted the purpose and scope of the initiative during its launch.
According to him, the joint patrol demonstrates law enforcement officers steadfast commitment to the collective safety of communities.
“This joint patrol demonstrates our steadfast commitment to collective action for the safety of our communities,” he stated.
He added that the presence of security officers in communities across Monrovia and its environs will reassure citizens that their safety is LNP top priority.
“The presence of security officers reassures the people of Liberia that their safety is our top priority, and we will continue to engage actively with the public to address their concerns.”
The patrols will target key areas of the city identified as hotspots for criminal activity, with the goal of creating a secure and welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.
The operation is said to remain ongoing and evolve in response to emerging threats and community feedback.
However, the release disclosed that regular updates and public awareness campaigns related to the patrols will be posted on the Liberia National Police Facebook page, allowing the public to remain informed and involved.
The LNP reiterated its unwavering commitment to upholding peace, ensuring safety, and maintaining public confidence.
Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with officers and report any suspicious activity as part of a shared responsibility to protect Liberia’s capital.
According to the Police, this latest operation underscores a broader shift toward proactive, community-centered policing, as the government works to restore faith in public institutions and improve quality of life in urban areas.
