Lofa County University has officially launched its second carrot production initiative in Voinjama City, Lofa County. Dr. Isaac Podah, the President of the university emphasized his commitment to agricultural production in Lofa, stating that the foundation of the university is rooted in agriculture. He affirmed that as long as he remains in leadership, he will continue to invest in agricultural initiatives, which he considers the cornerstone of the university’s mission.

The carrot production initiative aligns with the government’s ARREST agenda which talks about Agriculture, Road, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation and Tourism. This program aims to boost food production and strengthen agricultural practices throughout the nation.

The production field will serve as a practical training site for students, making it mandatory for all freshmen at Lofa County University to participate in this hands-on learning experience. Carrots are not only vital for nutrition but also beneficial for eye health, reinforcing the importance of this initiative for both educational and community health purposes.

Dr. Podah welcomed local citizens interested in purchasing carrots and encouraged those who wish to engage in vegetable farming to take part in the practical training. He aims to empower individuals in Lofa County and beyond to cultivate carrots and other vegetables.

In a show of unity and respect, Dr. Podah and his leadership team sought the blessings of county superintendent, chiefs, elders, and religious leaders in Lofa County. This collaboration aims to enhance the production of vegetable crops and to seek divine support for the university, its administration, and the dedicated staff serving the Liberian people.

Dr. Podah also appealed to the government of Liberia for assistance in providing agricultural materials, which would enable Lofa County University to be more proactive in increasing local food production for the market and the nation at large.

County authorities, led by Superintendent Massaquoi, prayed for Dr. Podah and the university, expressing gratitude for the efforts made to rejuvenate and strengthen the educational system at Lofa County University. They acknowledged the positive impact of the university’s initiatives on the community and its commitment to enhancing the agricultural landscape of Lofa County.
