Major Road Reconstruction Hits Sanoyea District, as Totota-Phebe Corridor Set to Begin

Bong County, Liberia – In a significant development aimed at improving transportation infrastructure in Liberia, Senator Prince Moye has announced that the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Public Works, is finalizing plans to commence the long-awaited reconstruction of the Totota-Phebe corridor.

The project is set to begin with rehabilitation works in its first phase, with activities expected to commence soon.

During a media engagement held on Wednesday in Bong County, Senator Moye, a prominent member of the Unity Party administration, detailed the scope and funding of the project.

He confirmed that the first phase will kick off with rehabilitation efforts on the segment from Totota to Sanoyea Town.

This phase is backed by an allocation of US$812,000 from the 2025 National Budget.

Senator Moye emphasized the importance of this project for local communities, addressing the long-standing challenges that residents have faced due to inadequate road conditions.

He expressed optimism that these rehabilitation works will significantly enhance accessibility and connectivity for people traveling along the corridor.

Looking ahead, the senator outlined plans for the project’s second phase, which is scheduled to be funded in the next budget year. This phase will extend the rehabilitation work from Sanoyea Town to Gbonota, ultimately reaching Phebe in the Suakoko District. Moye advocated for increased funding in subsequent budget years to facilitate the paving of the road following the completion of rehabilitation efforts.

The senator’s statements come as part of a broader commitment by the government to improve infrastructure and support economic growth through enhanced transportation networks.

The Totota-Phebe corridor has long been a vital route for the region, and these planned improvements are expected to provide much-needed relief for motorists and local residents alike.

As preparations for the project move forward, stakeholders and community members will be closely watching for updates on the implementation timeline and further developments regarding funding and additional phases of the reconstruction plan.
