Gbulay Town, Nimba County – A man believed to be in his mid-40s has been apprehended in Gbulay Town for allegedly engaging in electoral fraud after he was found in possession of multiple ballot papers.
The suspect, identified as Timothy Gblewon, claimed the ballot papers were handed to him by a poll worker at the voting center. According to Gblewon, he had visited the polling station to cast his vote when the ballot papers were issued to him.
Efforts to obtain a statement from the National Elections Commission (NEC) were unsuccessful, as officials declined to comment on the matter.
Police authorities confirmed that Mr. Gblewon has been taken to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
The incident occurred in Gbulay Town, the hometown of Mr. Augustus Menkwa, one of the leading candidates in the ongoing election. Local residents have expressed concern over the incident, calling for greater transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
