SAYAH TOWN, River Cess County – Police in River Cess County have launched an investigation into the death of a 50-year-old man, identified as Bobby Brown, a resident of Sayah Town in Nyorwein District.
According to a preliminary report from the Liberia National Police (LNP), the incident occurred following an altercation between the victim and a man identified as Emmanuel Jacobs. During the confrontation, Jacobs allegedly struck Brown behind the neck with a piece of firewood, leaving him unconscious.
Brown, who was of the Bassa tribe, was immediately rushed to the Sayah Town Clinic, where the Officer-in-Charge pronounced him dead on arrival.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the incident but was later arrested and transferred to the LNP Detachment Headquarters in Cestos City for further investigation.
A 15-member coroner jury—comprising ten community members and five relatives of the deceased—examined the body and concluded that Brown had suffered a broken neck, consistent with the alleged assault.
Police have since turned over the body to the victim’s family for preservation as investigations continue into the motive and circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
