Monrovia – In a significant move towards national development, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) has entered into a five-month contract with Africa Development Management Associates (ADMA) and Subah-Belle Associates.
This collaboration is set to lay the groundwork for President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, focusing on actionable development across Liberia.
The signing ceremony, held on Wednesday in Monrovia, brought together key leaders from the MFDP, ADMA, and Subah-Belle Associates.
Under this agreement, ADMA will spearhead the creation of the National Counties and Districts Development Agendas, forming the foundation for the government’s broader national development plan.
This initiative involves extensive consultations at district and regional levels, culminating in detailed, costed action plans for each district to be submitted to the MFDP.
Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Depue Zoe, highlighted the significance of this partnership, emphasizing the opportunity to leverage the county development system.
He expressed confidence in the capabilities of ADMA and Subah-Belle Associates to effectively realize President Boakai’s vision, aimed at achieving substantial progress towards Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
“We’re at a pivotal point in both global and national development projects related to Vision 2030 and the SDGs. President Boakai aims to achieve at least 80% of these goals within five years, guided by the insights and analyses provided by our contracted partners,” stated Deputy Minister Zoe.
He urged the consulting firms to incorporate human development pillars into the ARREST Agenda, ensuring that the development strategies reflect the priorities and needs of the local populations.
The information gathered from each county will be instrumental in planning, budgeting, and implementing development initiatives in line with the aspirations of the people.
ADMA’s manager B. Elias Shoniyin remarked on the historical significance of the contract, noting that the collaboration marks a milestone in Liberia’s development journey.
“This decision to engage two indigenous grassroots institutions underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive and impactful development,” he said.
A representative from Subah-Belle Associates echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the national development discourse.
Subah-Belle Associates will play a crucial role in coordinating discussions leading to the formulation of the ARREST Agenda nationally.
The five-month contract signifies a critical step towards crafting a development agenda that resonates with the local populace, paving the way for sustainable growth and prosperity across Liberia.
