In a bold demonstration of corporate responsibility and community development, the Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC) has taken a significant step to improve the lives of residents in and around its concession area.
Under the leadership of its new owner, Dr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva-commonly known as Jeety the company on Tuesday, July 22, donated a mini school bus, a Toyota Land Cruiser ambulance, and 52 solar lights to support education, health, and safety in the region.
The presentation ceremony, held at Camp #4 within the plantation, was personally led by Dr. Sachdeva-Jeety.
The mini school bus brings SRC’s school transportation fleet to three, with the new vehicle expected to benefit students from remote areas, including the “Block Park” region, by making regular commutes to the SRC school more accessible.
The existing two larger buses will continue to serve children residing within the plantation.
In a significant boost to health services, Dr. Jeety also handed over a Toyota Land Cruiser designated for use as a 24-hour ambulance.
He noted that the addition of the ambulance would improve emergency healthcare access for both plantation residents and neighboring towns and villages.
Additionally, a total of 52 solar streetlights were distributed one each to the 52 towns and villages that surround the plantation. This solar lighting initiative is expected to improve night-time visibility and general security in these communities.
During his visit, Dr. Jeety also officially dedicated a newly renovated town hall in Baypolu, the largest community in the Block Park area.
The rehabilitation of the facility, spearheaded by Dr. Jeety himself, is part of his broader vision to uplift rural communities through tangible development projects.
Local leaders including elders, traditional chiefs, county commissioners, women’s organizations, and youth representatives hailed Dr. Jeety’s contributions.
They praised his leadership of the Salala Rubber Corporation and the Jeety Conglomerate, recognizing his ongoing efforts to invest in education, healthcare, employment, and infrastructure within District #5 and beyond.
Residents expressed optimism that Dr. Jeety’s hands-on approach and philanthropic efforts will usher in a new era of development for the region.
“Your support has already begun transforming lives, and we are confident that under your leadership, SRC will become a beacon of hope for the entire county,” said one community elder during the ceremony.
The event ended with a call from local authorities for other concession companies to emulate the SRC’s renewed commitment to corporate social responsibility.
