In a definitive effort to enhance Liberia’s education sector, the Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso M. Jallah, led a delegation to Ghana on a study tour that lasted five days.
The delegation aimed to learn from Ghana’s National School Inspectorate Authority (NASIA) to improve Liberia’s school monitoring and supervision practices.
The tour, which ended on Friday, August 30, 2024, was part of the South-South Cooperation (SSC) framework, which fosters the exchange of knowledge and best practices among developing countries.
Dr. Jallah highlighted the significance of bilateral cooperation, particularly in vocational education and technology, to empower Liberian youth with the skills required for the evolving job market.
She further expressed confidence in the potential for future collaboration between Ghana and Liberia.
During the visit, the delegation focused on Ghana’s advancements in educational oversight, particularly in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as well as innovations in educational technology such as distance learning and open schooling.
The team engaged in meaningful discussions with the Ghanaian Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and key officials from various educational agencies, gaining valuable insights to inform Liberia’s educational reforms.
The study tour is expected to culminate in a comprehensive report outlining the lessons learned and best practices identified, which will serve as a blueprint for establishing Liberia’s own school inspectorate.
This visit ensures a brighter future for the Liberian educational sector and promotes a lasting relationship between the two nations.
