The Ministry of Mines and Energy has launched a formal investigation into allegations of misconduct involving three of its Mining Agents. In a significant move, the Ministry has recalled Mining Agent Samuel Fahn from Henry Town, Gbarpolu County, while an inquiry into his actions is underway. Paul Mulbah has been appointed as the acting Mining Agent in the area to ensure continuity of services.
The Ministry’s action extends to other regions, with similar measures taken in Fuamah 1 & 2 in Bong County and Gbarma in Gbarpolu County. Mining Agent Donald C. Wesseh has been recalled from Fuamah 1 & 2, with Charles Kortail stepping in as acting Mining Agent. In Gbarma, Solomon G. Jacobs has been replaced by Amos Weah Toe, who will now serve as the district’s acting mining agent.
These recalls follow complaints regarding the agents’ performance and are part of the Ministry’s ongoing investigation into alleged failures in the administration of mining operations. The Bureau of Mines, responsible for overseeing mining districts, confirmed that Wesseh and Jacobs are under investigation for handling the Ministry’s affairs in their respective areas.
In light of these actions, the Ministry has warned all Mining Agents and Inspectors that such conduct is unacceptable. It emphasized that these measures remind all employees of the importance of upholding professional and ethical standards in their roles. The Ministry further stressed that its policies are designed to guide its employees’ conduct and ensure the proper management of the country’s mining sector.
