A 10-year-old boy who had been reported missing has been found in Voinjama, but the mystery surrounding his mother’s whereabouts has left both police and residents deeply concerned.
Sekou Fofana was discovered around 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, after a friend recognized him and notified the Women and Children Protection Division. Authorities say the boy appeared distressed and disoriented but was physically unharmed.
According to a police report, Sekou identified his home as Harris Stone, located in the Johnsonville Community, Montserrado County. He told officers and journalists that his mother, Fatumata Kamara, had taken him on a business trip to Voinjama and instructed him to wait at a nearby eating spot. She reportedly stepped away and never returned.
Efforts to contact the Women and Children Division in Johnsonville, Montserrado have so far proven unsuccessful in locating any of Sekou’s immediate family. His father, Armara Fofana, is believed to work at a local garage in Johnsonville, while his mother is said to run a clothing business in the area.
Authorities are now focusing on Sekou’s welfare, working with local child protection officials and the media to ensure his safety and care. Police say the priority is to reunite him with his family or, if necessary, provide a suitable alternative care arrangement.
The incident has sparked widespread concern in Voinjama, with community leaders and residents calling for Fatumata Kamara to come forward and explain her actions. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Sekou’s parents to contact the nearest police station or child protection office immediately.
As the investigation continues, Sekou living body is in the care of the Women and Children Division in Voinjama, where officials say he is receiving emotional support and protection.
