MOE, MGCSP, MOH, and UNICEF Re-launch ‘Back to My Classroom’ Campaign

BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County – The Ministry of Education (MOE), in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Ministry of Health (MOH), UNICEF, and other development partners, has officially re-launched the Back to My Classroom community engagement campaign in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

According to a press statement, this transformative initiative aims to reintegrate 250,000 out-of-school children into the classroom over the next three years.

Beyond raising awareness, the campaign is committed to removing key administrative barriers to education, including issuing birth certificates to children who lack them—ensuring every child’s right to access quality education is protected.

During the relaunch ceremony, Assistant Minister for Basic and Secondary Education, Abba G. Karnga, emphasized the collective responsibility of parents, guardians, and communities to ensure that no child is left behind.

“The success of this initiative depends not just on government, but on the involvement of every family and community,” said Minister Karnga.

Deputy Minister for Administration, Hon. Yekeh Y. Forpah, also extended appreciation to development partners and stakeholders for their ongoing support. He urged families to seize this opportunity to empower their children, whom he described as “the future leaders of tomorrow.”

Representatives from UNICEF, Save the Children, Educate HER, Rising Academy, and Street Child were present at the event. They praised the Ministry’s leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively toward the campaign’s success.

A cornerstone of the Back to My Classroom campaign is the implementation of comprehensive community assessments to identify the key obstacles preventing school enrollment. The findings will inform targeted interventions aimed at strengthening community involvement and improving educational outcomes.

This renewed collective effort underscores Liberia’s national commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable education system—one in which every child has the chance to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
