MOH Launches EIDSR Configuration and Automatic Data Transfer

The Ministry of Health (MOH), in collaboration with the West African Health Organization (WAHO) and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), has commenced a five-day workshop on the Electronic Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (EIDSR) system.

The National Training of Trainers workshop began on September 16, 2024, at the Golden Gate Hotel in Paynesville, bringing together key stakeholders to enhance understanding of the vital role EIDSR data plays in strengthening disease surveillance across Africa.

According to a release issued by the Health Ministry dated September 19, 2024, during the workshop, Dr. Anthony Fortune, Assistant Minister for Vital Statistics at the MOH, emphasized the significance of EIDSR in improving Liberia’s disease surveillance response.

Dr. Fortune highlighted that the system facilitates real-time data collection, which is essential for timely public health interventions.

“The EIDSR represents a major advancement in our efforts to bolster disease surveillance and response in Liberia. It allows for real-time data analysis and reporting, critical for making informed decisions and responding promptly to public health threats,” Dr. Fortune emphasized.

He noted that integrating EIDSR into the healthcare system will enable health workers to utilize existing infrastructure to track diseases more effectively, ensuring early detection and control of potential outbreaks.

Dr. Fortune expressed gratitude to all partners and stakeholders for their contributions to making the EIDSR system operational and reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to improving health outcomes in Liberia.
