The Ministry of Transport has responded to claims made by a group calling itself the Supreme Motorcyclists Transport Union of Liberia, which recently organized a protest. The group, which asserts to be a registered union under the Ministry’s jurisdiction, has been engaging in activities that the Ministry describes as unauthorized.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Ministry of Transport clarified that the Supreme Motorcyclists Transport Union of Liberia is not a registered entity within the Ministry and holds no official standing. As such, the group lacks the legal authority to operate as a union under the Ministry’s oversight.
The Ministry expressed concern over the ongoing protest and cautioned the group against further actions that could lead to misunderstandings. The Ministry has urged the self-proclaimed union and other motorcyclists associated with it to cease impersonating a registered body to prevent future complications with the Ministry.
The statement was signed by Shadrach D. Brown, Director of Press and Public Affairs, and approved by Hon. Archibald S. Abban, Deputy Minister for Administration and Insurance.
