The police, including a team of forensic investigators, have completed what it termed as ‘the reconstruction of the crime scene’ at the Oldroad residence of suspect Samuel Jackson. They have taken suspect Jackson back into detention at the Headquarters of the Liberia National Police.
One of the potential lawyers of Liberian economist Samuel Jackson in the alleged homicide case, Cllr. Sayma Cyrenius Cephus, boldly said during the reconstruction of the crime scene that his client is innocent and he is going to fight in his defense in the Court.
“We support the reconstruction of the crime scene. I have come here to see for myself as a lawyer. In this case, I have to mask myself and wear a glove to enter the crime scene. You should not touch anything. The police took their time to explain to me. They adopted and explained the procedures to me. My client was invited as a person of interest. My client is innocent. Reconstructing the crime scene is not a problem for us. At the end of the day, whatever they come up with, we will challenge it in the Court. They can visit the scene as many times as possible. They are doing their professional job. The best place where I can fight is in the Court. I am still looking at the circumstances and conditions of the case. I have not signed a contract yet. That is why I have promised to be a lawyer for him. In a matter like this, most times, legal services are on a pro bono basis. He is a friend. Jackson is my friend. So, we have to provide him with legal guidance and support. His beautiful wife has died under such mysterious circumstances. He is terrified. So, it is a solemn duty on my part as a friend to render him with my legal services,” Cllr. Sayma Cyrenius Cephus, the former Solicitor General of Liberia, said.
Another lawyer representing the legal interest of the suspect, Atty. Jeremiah Samuel Dugbo, said, “The police are now returning to their headquarters to continue their investigation. Our client has been very cooperative. He has given his phone, his wife’s phone, his laptop, and everything.”
