NACSUL Applauds NASSCORP DG Dewitt vonBallmoos on ISSA Election

By Staff Reporter

The National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Dewitt vonBallmoos, Director-General of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), following his recent election to a top post within the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

On October 3, 2025, during the ISSA World Social Security Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, DG vonBallmoos was elected Chair of the Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance.

He will serve in this global role for a three-year term, from 2025 to 2028.

In a statement released Tuesday, October 14, 2025, NACSUL described vonBallmoos’s election as a well-deserved recognition of his visionary leadership and longstanding contributions to Liberia’s social security sector.

The ISSA Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance focuses on safeguarding the financial sustainability of social security systems. It addresses a wide range of issues—from macroeconomic challenges to operational strategies—related to the collection of contributions and ensuring compliance.

According to NACSUL, vonBallmoos brings to the position decades of professional experience and a track record of reform, innovation, and institutional growth. “We are not surprised by his election,” the group said. “He has consistently demonstrated commitment and integrity, helping transform NASSCORP into a modern, responsive, and decentralized institution.”

Under vonBallmoos’s leadership, NASSCORP has invested in various sectors, including real estate, agriculture, health, and banking. The institution has also supported national development through initiatives such as the low-cost housing program and the establishment of the Jahmale Diagnostic Center—a state-of-the-art medical facility aimed at improving healthcare delivery in Liberia.

NACSUL further highlighted research showing that NASSCORP now manages assets valued at approximately US$141 million, a reflection of prudent financial management and sustainable growth.

“We believe DG vonBallmoos will bring the same energy and excellence to the ISSA role as he has brought to NASSCORP,” NACSUL stated. “He is an honest, fair, and strategic leader whose impact is already being felt far beyond Liberia’s borders.”

The civil society group concluded by reaffirming its support for vonBallmoos throughout his three-year term and expressed confidence in his ability to represent Liberia on the international stage with distinction.
