Boakai has finally axed impunity after 21 years since Liberia’s bloody civil war ended.

In a resounding chorus of approbation, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of Liberia finds himself at the center of commendation both domestically and internationally for his recent executive action geared towards justice and accountability for war victims, something his predecessors could not do.

The decision to greenlight the establishment of a War and Economics Crime Court has garnered widespread acclaim, with voices from various quarters, including the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), adding their voice to the chorus of approval.

The NDC, known for its staunch advocacy of social democratic principles, has extended its heartfelt appreciation to President Boakai for his decisive leadership in signing Executive Order #131.

This significant move, aimed at establishing the War and Economics Crime Court, is hailed by the party as a pivotal moment in Liberia’s quest for justice and accountability.

In a statement released today under the signatures of its Secretary Peal Nyekan and chairman Ciapha Saah Gbollie, the NDC reaffirmed its unwavering support for President Boakai’s commitment to upholding the pillars of justice, accountability, and the rule of law.

“By championing the cause of indiscriminate justice, President Boakai has set a formidable stage for the restoration of public trust and the preservation of human dignity across Liberia,” the NDC said in its press statement.

The establishment of the War and Economics Crime Court, as underscored by the NDC, represents a watershed moment in Liberia’s history.

NDC believes that the establishment of the Court signals a resolute determination to confront and eradicate the pervasive culture of impunity that has long plagued the nation.

While acknowledging the challenges inherent in this endeavor, the NDC commends the President’s unwavering dedication to righting the wrongs of the past and ensuring that victims receive the justice and closure they deserve.

The party emphasizes the pivotal role of the court in facilitating national healing and reconciliation.

According to the NDC, the court will serve as a beacon of hope, offering light in the darkness of past injustices.

This historic move signifies a critical step forward in acknowledging the pain and suffering endured by countless individuals throughout Liberia’s turbulent history.

Looking ahead, the NDC said it envisions a future where the establishment of the War and Economics Crime Court inspires optimism and confidence in the Liberian people.

The party calls on Liberians both at home and abroad to rally behind this cause and ensure that justice prevails.

In reaffirming its commitment to Liberia’s democratic values and principles, the NDC expresses faith in the collective resolve and determination of the Liberian people.

“Together, we can forge ahead on a noble journey towards a brighter future, where justice, fairness, and human dignity reign supreme”.
