Monrovia – The National Elections Commission (NEC) has outlined the process for replacing lost or damaged voter registration cards for the upcoming Nimba County Senatorial By-election. In a public service announcement released on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the NEC confirmed that the replacement process will begin on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the two local NEC Magisterial Offices located in Tappita and Sanniquellie, which serve Lower and Upper Nimba County, respectively. The process will conclude on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
The NEC stated that the replacement exercise applies to registered voters from the 2023 voter registration list who have lost or damaged their BVR voter registration cards. Voters wishing to replace their cards must follow a three-step procedure. First, they must appear in person at the Magisterial Office in either Lower or Upper Nimba County, where they originally registered, to confirm their details in the system. If their information is confirmed, they will then receive a replacement bill and are required to pay a fee of US$5 at the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) into the government’s revenue. Once the payment is made, voters must return to the same Magisterial Office with their payment receipt to receive a new BVR card with their existing details.
This replacement process is part of the preparation for the Nimba County Senatorial By-election, in line with the Key Electoral Dates released by the NEC. The Commission urges all eligible voters who need replacements to adhere to the timeline to ensure they can participate in the upcoming election.
