Voters in Nimba County’s Fifth Electoral District are heading to the polls today August 12, 2025 in a crucial by-election to fill the vacant Representative seat left by former Representative, now Senator, Hon. Samuel G. Kogar.
Kogar, who previously represented the district at the House of Representatives, ascended to the Liberian Senate following the death of Senator Prince Y. Johnson. His departure necessitated today’s by-election, which many describe as one of the most competitive in recent years.
The Fifth District, known for its political engagement and diverse electorate, will be selecting a new representative to serve out the remainder of the legislative term. Ten candidates are vying for the seat, and political observers expect a close race.
