NIR Donates Motorbike to Rivercess Ahead of Biometric ID Rollout

Cestos City, Rivercess County – The National Identification Registry (NIR) has donated a new Hunter Hero motorbike to its Rivercess County office as part of efforts to strengthen local capacity ahead of Liberia’s nationwide rollout of the National Biometric Identification System (NBIS).

The handover ceremony, held at the NIR’s Rivercess office in Cestos, comes as part of broader logistical preparations for the implementation of Executive Order #147, issued by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr., on April 14, 2025. The order mandates that all Liberian citizens and foreign residents enroll in the NBIS, which will serve as the sole recognized form of identification for accessing both public and private services.

Presenting the motorbike, NIR Executive Director Andrew Peters emphasized the agency’s commitment to supporting the rollout, despite the temporary suspension of enrollment activities pending final administrative arrangements.

“The motorbike is an initial contribution in our broader logistics plan for Rivercess County,” Peters stated. “We are likely to establish no fewer than 24 enrollment centers in the county. This bike will enhance our mobilization efforts, especially in hard-to-reach communities, ensuring an inclusive and efficient identification process.”

Receiving the motorbike, Rivercess County NIR Center Coordinator Isaac Toe thanked the NIR leadership and President Boakai for their continued support.

“This motorbike will greatly enhance our outreach and field operations,” Toe said. “It will enable our team to access remote areas and ensure that no citizen is left out of this critical national exercise.”

The NBIS initiative is a cornerstone of the Boakai administration’s efforts to modernize identity management and streamline access to essential services across Liberia.
