A senior official of government and Vice President of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), Mr. Boakai Jaleiba, has spilled the beans, alleging that Bea Mountain is conniving and co-opting with Senator McGill, some Liberian lawmakers including lawmakers from Grand Cape Mount County, and LRA auditors to exploit Liberia’s natural resources. Will the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) open an investigation into this grave allegation?
Jaleiba writes via his Facebook page:
“In an attempt to fire back, the Senator from Margibi stepped on a landmine under his own post. But let me make it clear that AML gives Nimba, Bong, and Bassa $3 million a year for social services. Meanwhile, BEA Mountain gives Cape Mount exactly $0.00 for the same period.
But here’s the filthy truth though, that same company (BMMC) funnels over a million dollars a year to certain lawmakers. So, Senator, why don’t you explain to your own constituents who paid for your sister’s medical bills in Turkey under the last regime? And who’s still funding your routine checkups in Turkey? Answer: the same BEA Mountain.
And to you Cape Mount lawmakers sleeping in bed with the company, where do you go for treatment? Liberia. Why? Because BMMC has zero respect for you. You bring nothing substantive to the debate. So, they’re bankrolling lawmakers from Gibi, Grand Kru, Bassa, and Maryland instead.
They are even paying for the construction work on the 1 lot in Congo Town. All payback for the agreement signed in the middle of the night on the eve of elections.
We have the receipts.
BMMC is so deeply entrenched that it’s alleged even LRA auditors who go there for routine audits are co-opted. Mine representatives sent to the site do not independently verify gold exports as they simply sign off on the sheets. Consider that the Saturday declarations by BEA Mountain are self-declarations. Then ask yourself; what would the monthly exports have been, had they been subject to independent verification over its years of operations?”
More details to follow.
