In a bold strike against the illicit drug trade, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in River Gee County apprehended a familiar face on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
KC Okonkwo, a 30-year-old Nigerian national residing in Gbeapo Kaweaken, was arrested at Combat Gates in Chedepo District after officers uncovered a large cache of narcotics hidden inside an old television. The suspicious package, delivered by an unidentified vehicle, contained 106.9 grams of heroin and 101.0 grams of drug precursors — a haul valued at over LRD 713,700 on the street.
Okonkwo’s arrest marks yet another chapter in his long history of drug-related offenses. Despite multiple run-ins with the law, he continued his trade with impunity until Thursday’s bust.
Currently under investigation, Okonkwo is slated to face the Fish Town Magisterial Court on Monday, May 26. Authorities are hopeful this latest arrest signals progress in dismantling the drug trafficking rings operating in River Gee County.
