A man who mostly served under two successive presidents as the leader of traditional chiefs and elders in Liberia, Chief Zanzan Karwor of Grand Bassa County, now speaks from his sick bed.
Karwor largely served under both ex-presidents Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and George Weah. His reign as the Chairman of the National Traditional Council came to an end in early August 2024 through a democratic transition.
The once powerful Chief says his leg was amputated by the John F. Kennedy Hospital (JFK) in Monrovia after doctors diagnosed him with diabetes.
Karwor’s family is now appealing for assistance amid his declining health condition.
STAND Chairman, Mr. Mulbah Morlu, who visited Karwor at an unnamed local clinic in Monrovia attributed Karwor’s situation to alleged medical malpractice and what he described as “State Neglect”.
The once powerful Chief will now have to live with the trauma that comes with amputation after his long years of service to Liberia as Head of the Traditional Council since 2006.
More details to follow.
