Opting to Unseat Pro-Temp in 2029: Key Names Emerge for Bassa Senatorial Race

Grand Bassa [August 26, 2025] – With nearly four years to go before Grand Bassa heads to the polls for the 2029 senatorial elections, early political conversations and strategic moves are already shaping the county. The senatorial seat currently occupied by Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence will be declared vacant.

Senator Lawrence, who will complete 17 years in office by 2029, is reportedly weighing her political options. While unconfirmed, inside sources hint that she may return to the race to secure an additional 9-year term unless a national-level opportunity, such as a vice-presidential running mate position, becomes a more viable path. In the meantime, the Senator has intensified her engagements and community-focused projects across the county, fueling speculation of a potential third-term bid.

Meanwhile, a fresh lineup of potential contenders is beginning to take shape -each with roots and rising influence in Grand Bassa politics.

One of the most talked-about names is Hon. Gabriel Montgomery, a longtime ally to Senator Lawrence and a respected son of Bassa who has long lived among and served the people. Known for his quiet yet impactful contributions, Montgomery is said to have begun early preparations behind the scenes, building networks and solidifying his base ahead of what could be a competitive political showdown.

Also rumored to be quietly preparing is Commerce Minister Magdalene Dagoseh. While she has not officially declared her intention, reports suggest she is strategically laying the groundwork for a strong campaign, positioning herself as a serious contender for 2029.

Another familiar face in the race could be Mrs. Magdalene G. Harris, who has already contested the senatorial seat twice. In 2023, Harris secured over 15,000 votes, marking her as a formidable force in Grand Bassa’s political space. Although she has not made a formal announcement, insiders say her ambition for the Senate remains unchanged.

As the political winds begin to blow, the central question remains: Who will claim Grand Bassa’s senatorial seat in 2029?

Will Senator Lawrence return to extend her legacy into a third term, potentially making it 26 years in office? Or will new leadership emerge from the ranks of Montgomery, Dagoseh, or Harris to usher in a fresh political chapter?

For now, all eyes remain on the ground in Grand Bassa, where the early moves being made today may very well determine the outcome of tomorrow’s race.
