River Gee County | December 4, 2025 | The De-Socroe Foundation has unveiled an expanded Christmas outreach initiative that will benefit 500 pregnant women and newborn babies across three major health facilities in River Gee County.
The initiative which will begun from December 9, 2025 aims to reduce the financial pressures faced by vulnerable mothers in need of medical care.
According to the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Madam Decontee Socre, the organization has already concluded crucial planning discussions with administrative teams and Officers-in-Charge – OICs of the selected health centers.
Beneficiaries will be drawn from the Gbeapo Kanweaken Comprehensive Health Center, the Sarbo Comprehensive Health Center, and the Fish-Town County Referral Hospital facilities that serve as major maternal health points in the county.
Madam Socre noted that the Foundation will distribute baby clothing, pampers, and other essential newborn supplies, items she says many mothers are too financially constrained to provide.
Drawing from her professional background, the CEO herself as a Bachelor degree holder in Midwife shared emotional accounts of the daily realities faced by pregnant women in rural health facilities.
“As a midwife, I see these situations every day. Some pregnant women cannot afford even ten Liberian dollars to buy cold water. Others give birth without having a single piece of clothing for their newborn.
These challenges inspired me to start giving back to my community,” she stated.
Madam Socre further emphasized that the De-Socroe Foundation operates strictly as a humanitarian institution, distancing the initiative from any form of political motive.
“This is not politics. I have no political ambition tied to this work. Our focus is purely humanitarian,” she clarified.
Speaking alongside her, the Foundation’s Executive Director, Orisa M. Tweh, disclosed that the organization is developing broader programs to support persons living with disabilities, disadvantaged youths, and other marginalized groups across the county.
He called on River Gee residents to rally behind the Foundation’s vision and support its expanding community programs.
Over the years, the De-Socroe Foundation has donated food items, school supplies, and various non-food materials to institutions across Electoral District #1, with a strong emphasis on students and families who lack basic necessities.
The CEO and Executive Director both made these announcements during an appearance on Voice of River Gee 91.1 FM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in Fish-Town, River Gee County.
The De-Socroe Foundation is among several local organizations making visible humanitarian contributions in the county.
Another prominent group is the Kuncare Foundation, which recently revealed plans to distribute 100 motorcycles and 200 reflective jackets to motorcyclists across River Gee.
Kuncare is also preparing to commission a modern parking station valued at over US$60,000 for the Federation of Road Transport Union an initiative expected to significantly improve transportation safety and organization.
As the Christmas season draws closer, residents say such interventions provide hope and much-needed relief for vulnerable families.
During the radio program, several callers expressed gratitude to the various humanitarian foundations operating in River Gee.
They praised their continued efforts and encouraged them to do even more to support the county’s growth and development.
