The Management of Verity Online News and The Town Square Picks Sister Mary Laurene Brown As “Personality Of The Month”

I) Bio:
Born on February 26, 1943, in Gadetarbo Chiefdom, Maryland County, Sister Mary Laurene Brown is a Success Story to eulogize. Sister Brown, a devout Catholic, is our Personality for April 2024.

II) Why was she chosen?
At age 82, Sister Brown is still inspiring and impacting lives. The name Mary Laurene Brown is akin to excellence, eloquence, and “Good English”. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Brown is a national heroine in Liberia after 82 years because of her priceless contribution to education, charity, mentorship, and service.

The Sister is famous for her OYSS-Series (Textbooks) for primary school students. She has inspired millions of Liberian students, teachers, and parents. The culture of reading, speaking, critical thinking, and good morals became commonplace in Liberia during Sister Brown’s active years of service.

The Legacies of Sister Mary Laurene Brown:
1) Stella Maris Polytechnic University, formerly Don Bosco Polytechnic, charted on August 15, 1988.

Sister Brown is not just a passionate educator and a patriot par excellence but also a symbol of peace, discipline, and integrity. What more can Sis. Mary Laurene Brown do before we recognize her immense contribution? The management of Verity Online News and The Town Square made a conscious choice to pick Sister Brown as “Personality Of The Month” while she’s still alive.

Like Angie Elizabeth Brooks-Randolph, so is Mary Laurene Brown – a mentor to many and a champion of quality education and academic excellence in Liberia.

We will continue to recognize and honor Liberians who’ve worked and are working very hard to make impact in different spheres of life including education, innovation, business, academia, leadership, science, governance, arts and culture, etc.
