Monrovia, Liberia — The Liberia National Police (LNP) has released a series of updates on major criminal incidents and law enforcement actions across several counties, highlighting a wide range of offenses from drug trafficking and mob violence to police misconduct.
Montserrado County: Rioting at CDC Headquarters
Several individuals have been formally charged following a violent disruption during the enforcement of a Supreme Court eviction order at the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Party Headquarters on August 23. The suspects, including James B. Kerper, Sarah Nyancie, and Emma P. Zoe, face charges of rioting, obstructing government operations, and endangering public safety. All have been forwarded to court for prosecution.
Bomi County: Sierra Leonean National Caught with Tramadol
Banlu Kamara, a 43-year-old Sierra Leonean citizen, was arrested at the Jenni checkpoint with 60 boxes of Tramadol valued at approximately $4,000 USD. Authorities say the pharmaceuticals were illegally trafficked into Liberia from Sierra Leone. Kamara has been charged under the country’s new drug laws and has been sent to court.
Gbarpolu County: Man Detained for Assault
In Belle Baloma Town, police arrested David Forkpah for aggravated assault after he allegedly tied a woman’s hands and left her outside in the rain during a dispute related to a town cleaning exercise. Two alleged accomplices escaped the scene. The victim is receiving medical treatment, and Forkpah remains in custody.
Margibi County: Motorbike Dispute Turns Deadly
Three suspects ~ Emmanuel Paylay, alias “No Fun,” Francis Foko, alias “Four Letters,” and Bobby Smith, alias “Little Face” ~ have been arrested for allegedly beating Jonah Farmar, known locally as “Sweet Candy,” to death. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a motorbike. All three are currently in pre-trial detention.
Grand Gedeh County: Hanging Death Ruled Accidental
The body of Junior Flomo was discovered hanging near Tweh Town, Putu District. Following an investigation, a coroner jury has ruled out foul play. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
Grand Bassa County: Murder and Motorbike Theft
Matthew Whea and Prince Sumo have been arrested in connection with the murder of Ruben Samuel, whose body was found in a pool of blood near God Blessings Hill. The suspects were allegedly caught fleeing with a stolen motorbike and are now in custody.
Grand Gedeh County: M-16 Rifle Found
An M-16 rifle loaded with 29 rounds was discovered by farmers in Patience Village. Joint security forces responded promptly, securing the weapon. An investigation is ongoing to determine its origin and intended use.
LNP Internal Affairs: Officers Dismissed for Misconduct
Two officers of the Police Support Unit—Patrolmen Edwin T. Ceasar and Stephen B. Wanawon—have been dismissed following investigations into criminal behavior, abuse of authority, and unsatisfactory conduct. They have been turned over to the LNP Crimes Services Department for prosecution. The police leadership reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on misconduct within the force.
