One of the alleged ringleaders of a notorious gang known for terrorizing residents in Monrovia has been apprehended by the Liberia National Police.
The suspect, only identified as “Alaba”, was arrested in the New Georgia Estate area, according to a report by the Crime Watch Night Time Radio program. At the time of his arrest, Alaba was reportedly in possession of dangerous weapons, including cutlasses and firearms.
Alaba is believed to be a key figure in a motorbike-riding gang that has been linked to a series of violent attacks and criminal activities across several communities, particularly targeting motorbike riders. The gang is known for using cutlasses and live ammunition to intimidate and rob unsuspecting citizens.
This development follows growing public concern and a recent report highlighting the increasing threat posed by these roaming gangs in the Johnsonville community and surrounding areas.
Community members have long called for a crackdown on the criminal network, which has also been associated with bag snatching, motorbike theft, and assaults ~ especially within the Gardnersville belt.
Community members are calling on the LNP to intensify efforts to dismantle the entire network behind these crimes.
