Political Activist Praises President’s Crackdown on Corruption, Warns Public Officials

Vandalack Patricks, a political critic has welcomed President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s recent actions against corruption, calling the suspension and dismissal of public officials accused of misconduct a bold and commendable step.

In a strong statement, Patricks warned appointed government officials not to be swayed by the President’s calm demeanor or friendly interactions. He cautioned that president Joseph Boakai is closely monitoring all ministries and agencies, possibly using insiders to gather intelligence on alleged corrupt practices.

“Once your name hits the media for misconduct or financial malpractice, you’re done,” Patricks warned, referencing the recent firing of three senior Lofa officials ~ some of whom are reportedly related to the President.

He emphasized the importance of good governance and urged officials to avoid bringing negative attention to their entities. “Play a key administrative role to properly govern,” he stated.

Patricks praised the involvement of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) in the crackdown and called for fairness in all investigations. He further urged that if accused officials are exonerated, they should be reinstated and compensated.

“If JNB stays on this path,” he concluded, “we might just start finding money untouched in ministries ~ because people will be scared to steal it.”
