Pres. Boakai Extends Tariff Suspension on Off-Grid Solar Energy

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has issued Executive Order No. 134, extending tariff suspension on off-grid solar renewable energy products.

This is in a move to propel Liberia towards a sustainable energy future.

President Boakai  enacted Executive Order No. 134, extending the suspension of tariffs on off-grid solar renewable energy products, something key actors in the sector seems to be celebrating.

This decision follows the expiration of Executive Order No. 107, reaffirming the government’s steadfast commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives within the nation.

Executive Order No. 107 had initially waived tariffs on off-grid solar renewable energy products, playing a pivotal role in Liberia’s efforts to promote clean energy solutions.

With its expiration, concerns arose regarding the continuity of progress in this crucial sector.

In response, the government conducted a thorough review of tariff policies to sustain the momentum achieved and ensure ongoing support for renewable energy development.

The extended tariff suspension represents a strategic maneuver to create an enabling environment for the expansion of off-grid solar solutions throughout Liberia.

By incentivizing the importation and deployment of solar technologies, the Executive Order aims not only to stimulate investment and innovation within the renewable energy industry but also to enhance energy accessibility for remote and underserved communities.

The Liberian Leader highlighted the significance of Executive Order No. 134 in advancing Liberia’s sustainable development agenda.

He emphasized the pivotal role of renewable energy in fostering economic growth, preserving the environment, and ensuring equitable access to reliable electricity.

This policy underscores Liberia’s commitment to reducing dependency on traditional energy sources and mitigating the impacts of climate change through practical, forward-thinking initiatives.

The extension of the tariff suspension is anticipated to catalyze a surge in investments, partnerships, and projects within the renewable energy sector.

This strategic move is poised to transform Liberia’s energy landscape, paving the way for a resilient and eco-friendly future.

As the nation addresses challenges related to energy access and environmental sustainability, Executive Order No. 134 stands as a beacon of progress and opportunity.

The Executive Order No. 134 exemplifies Liberia’s proactive approach to renewable energy, signaling a renewed dedication to harnessing clean and sustainable resources for the benefit of current and future generations.

With Liberia advancing towards a greener and more prosperous future, the continuation of tariff suspension on off-grid solar renewable energy products symbolizes a pivotal step towards achieving energy security and environmental resilience.
