Pres. Boakai Suspends LTA Acting Chairman Following GAC Damning Audit Report and CENTAL Pressure

This paper reported about 40 minutes ago that President Joseph Boakai has suspended LTA Boss. The Executive Mansion just issued a statement in this regard, confirming our previous report.

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has suspended Mr. Abdullah L. Kamara from his position as Acting Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), effective immediately.

The decision follows a damning audit report from the General Auditing Commission (GAC), which details serious allegations of financial misconduct during Mr. Kamara’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer of TAMMA Corporation.

The report highlights questionable transactions involving public funds and significant financial irregularities.

Mounting pressure from the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) played a key role in prompting the suspension.

CENTAL has been outspoken in calling for accountability and urging the government to act swiftly in response to the GAC’s findings.

In the official suspension letter, President Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance.

Mr. Kamara has been suspended without pay, pending the outcome of a comprehensive and independent investigation by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).

An Executive Mansion release revealed that the President has further instructed Mr. Kamara to fully cooperate with both the LACC and the Ministry of Justice throughout the investigative process.

The Mansion said the suspension reflects the Boakai administration’s broader efforts to fight corruption and restore public trust in government institutions by ensuring that public officials are held to the highest standards of integrity.

Many Liberians are now awaiting the findings of the investigations being conducted by the LACC and the Ministry of Justice. Mr. Kamara will remain suspended until the conclusion of these inquiries.

Following his suspension, CENTAL Boss Anderson Miamen says President Boakai does not deserve any credit because Mr. Kamara’s suspension is overdue.
