President Boakai Announces New Appointments, Dissolves Key Boards for Restructuring

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has announced a new wave of appointments and institutional changes across government, in what appears to be part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to promote efficiency, accountability, and results-oriented leadership.

The latest nominations, made public by the Executive Mansion and subject to Senate confirmation where applicable, include the following:

Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs

Mack C. Mulbah, Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit

Varfin V. Donzo, Assistant Minister of State without Portfolio

Ministry of Mines and Energy

Oliver S. Gbegbe, Assistant Minister for Energy

National Bureau of Concessions

Hanson Kiazolu, Director General

Bureau of State Enterprises

J.S.B. Theodore Momo, Jr., Director General

In a related development, President Boakai has dissolved the Boards of Directors of several key public institutions including the William V.S. Tubman University, the Central Agricultural Research Institute (CARI), and the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) pending their restructuring.

According to the Executive Mansion, all statutory members of these boards will retain their positions in line with existing laws and regulations. The President has also directed that, in the interim, the sector heads responsible for each institution shall serve as Acting Chairpersons until the new boards are formally reconstituted.

President Boakai extended gratitude to the outgoing board members for their service and contributions to national development.

The Liberian leader reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening institutions and improving governance performance across all sectors.
