President Boakai Arrives in Lomé to Deliver Keynote Address at 2nd Africa Peace and Security Forum

Lomé, Togo – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has arrived in Lomé, the capital of the Republic of Togo, to attend the Second Edition of the Lomé Peace and Security Forum (LPSF 2025), held under the theme “Africa Facing Complex Security Challenges: How to Strengthen and Sustain Peace and Stability in a Changing World?” The President and delegation arrived last evening.

President Boakai was invited by his Togolese counterpart, His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, and is expected to deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the forum.

In his address, President Boakai will highlight Liberia’s renewed commitment to peace, reconciliation, and national unity, drawing on recent efforts including the reburial of former Presidents, national memorialization initiatives, diaspora engagement programs, and Liberia’s election to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member.

President Boakai joins a distinguished group of African and international leaders and experts attending the Forum, among them:

• H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Republic of Togo

• H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

• H.E. Leonardo Santos Simão, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS)

• H.E. Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola and President of the Executive Council of the African Union

• H.E. Prof. Robert Dussey, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration and Togolese Abroad

• H.E. Aminata Touré, Former Prime Minister of Senegal and many others.

Accompanying President Boakai are:

• Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs

• Madam Mamaka Bility, Minister of State Without Portfolio

• Senator Momo Cyrus, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Security

. Samuel Kofi Woods, National Senior Adviser

• Major General (Retired) Daniel Ziankahn, Jr., Military Adviser to the President

While the President is away on official duties, the Minister of Justice will chair the Cabinet in consultation with the Vice President and the President via telephone, ensuring the smooth continuity of national governance.

Following his participation in the Forum, President Boakai is expected to return to Liberia later today, Saturday, October 11, 2025.

The Lomé Peace and Security Forum serves as a premier platform for African leaders, policymakers, and scholars to engage on strategies for sustaining peace, enhancing regional cooperation, and responding to evolving security challenges across the continent.
